Installation Guide

Your Ornately Art piece has been carefully crafted to be easy to install. Follow this guide to safely hang your new artwork.

What's Included

Every piece comes with:

  • Keyhole mounts laser-cut into the backing (or pre-attached rope for hanging feathers)
  • GIB plugs and screws for easy mounting

Tools You'll Need

  • Measuring tape or ruler
  • Pencil
  • Drill (for most wall types) 
  • Level (optional but recommended)

Suitable Wall Surfaces

Our artwork can be installed on any wall surface where you can safely drill and screw into, including:

  • GIB board / Plasterboard (with provided GIB plugs)
  • Timber framing
  • Concrete or brick (with appropriate anchors)
  • Other solid wall surfaces

Important: Ensure you use appropriate wall anchors for your wall type and that they're rated to support the weight of your artwork (most pieces are lightweight, but larger pieces like Pasifika require secure mounting).

Installation Steps

For Keyhole Mount Pieces:

  1. Choose your location and mark where you want the artwork to hang
  2. Use a level to ensure your marks are straight
  3. Drill pilot holes at your marked positions
  4. Insert the provided GIB plugs into the holes
  5. Screw in the provided screws, leaving about 3-5mm protruding from the wall
  6. Align the keyhole mounts on the back of your artwork with the screws
  7. Gently slide the artwork down to secure it in place
  8. Check that it's level and secure

For Hanging Feather Pieces (with rope):

  1. Choose your location and mark where you want to hang the piece
  2. Install a wall hook or screw at your marked position
  3. Hang the pre-attached rope over the hook
  4. Adjust to ensure the feather hangs straight

Weight Guidelines

Most Ornately Art pieces are lightweight. For safety, we recommend:

  • Standard pieces: Wall anchors or picture hooks rated for at least 3.5kg
  • Large pieces (like Pasifika): Professional installation recommended

Professional Installation

We recommend professional installation for:

  • Pasifika (1500mm × 1500mm) - Due to its size, professional installation ensures safe and secure mounting
  • Any piece you're unsure about installing yourself
  • Installation on specialty wall surfaces

Display Tips

  • Allow adequate space around your artwork - it works best as a focal point
  • Avoid direct, prolonged exposure to strong sunlight to preserve colours
  • Consider the 3D effect when choosing lighting - side lighting can enhance the sculptural depth
