This piece takes inspiration from the delicate transparency of the glass wing butterfly – a species known for its clear, almost invisible wings that allow it to blend effortlessly into its surroundings. There’s something quietly powerful in its delicate, almost invisible form.
Designed and assembled in our New Zealand studio, the butterfly is laser cut from layered acrylic, Perspex and suspended on clear acrylic rods. The soft tonal shifts and transparent layers give this piece an airy, weightless quality, while the etched detail adds a sense of depth and movement when in natural light, creating shadow and movement throughout the day.
Finished in a clear acrylic display case with keyhole mounts – ready to hang. Size – 500 x 500 x 100mm
